Relieve Your Leg Pain With a Vein Procedure at our Center for Surgical Services
Another important area of surgery at the Center for Surgical Services is the important work we do in the area of Vein Care. With the expertise of Dr. Gregory Ripich, a valuable member of our team of skilled general surgeons, our vein care services can address both cosmetic concerns and medical issues as they relate to your veins including dealing with varicose veins.
Recognizing the Signs: When to Seek Vein Care Surgery
Tingling in the leg or foot
Numbness in the leg or foot
Restless leg syndrome
Swelling in your extremities
Leg or foot pain
A feeling of "heaviness" in your legs
If any of these symptoms are significantly impacting your daily life, then we can help improve your overall vein health through our variety of treatment options performed by Dr. Ripich.
How to Begin Vein Treatment
Patients interested in vein treatment at CMH can self-refer by phone or be referred by their primary physician. Once you reach out, a registered nurse (RN) will contact you to determine if an ultrasound (venous duplex) is necessary to evaluate your vein issues. The results will be stored in your electronic medical record for all your doctors to see. This ultrasound helps our medical staff assess you for venous insufficiency or reflux (blood flowing the wrong way). If the ultrasound results are positive, indicating a need for treatment, you will be scheduled to meet with Dr. Ripich to review your treatment options. Authorization for the procedure based on his recommendations is required.
Vein Treatment: Testing and Procedures
Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA): A minimally invasive procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to safely close off problem veins, alleviating pain, swelling, and discomfort, often used for varicose veins.
VenaSeal: A medical-grade adhesive (glue) is injected into the vein to seal it shut, improving blood flow without heat or sclerosants. It helps reduce swelling, restless leg, and the visual appearance of varicose veins.
Sclerotherapy: A special solution is injected into small varicose or spider veins, causing them to scar and gradually disappear over time and ease leg pain and discomfort.
Post Procedure Recovery and Healing
To make sure that your recovery is complete and you get the most out of your recovery, we will make some recommendations:
Wear compression stockings to apply pressure and help your veins to close and heal.
Gentle walking and a gradual return to normal activity will make sure your blood flow is moving but you don’t want to push too hard too fast.
You’ll probably experience some discomfort for a few days afterwards. Consult your doctor about taking pain relievers to help with the pain.
Avoid getting the area wet, your doctor will let you know when it’s safe to expose your treated area to water.
Avoid prolonged standing and sitting. Take regular walk-around and stretch breaks to keep blood from pooling in your legs.

Dr. Ripich will provide you with a full set of post procedure instructions for your smooth and full recovery.
