POSITION STATEMENT
As a Guest Service Representative, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient healthcare environment. Your responsibilities will primarily involve transportation and/or chaperoning of patients providing support to medical staff, ensuring the comfort of patients, and contributing to the overall functionality of the hospital.
JOB SUMMARY
The Guest Service Representative provides physical movement of patients and patient-related materials, supplies, and equipment throughout the medical complex. This individual has responsibilities involving indirect and direct patient care by transporting patients to and from appointments utilizing equipment based on patient needs. The size of patients, beds, and ancillary equipment will vary with every patient transfer. The Guest Service Representative can expect to be in physical activity for most of the day and will walk a large portion of the campus in a workday. The Guest Service Representative is also responsible for of delivery of equipment, specimens, and other items to designated locations. The Guest Service Representative functions in various settings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Transports patients and items to ensure the patient and items arrive safely at the correct location based upon the organization’s policies and procedures.
2. Communicates and addresses safety needs appropriately for patients and family members based upon the individual’s age, development, physical, psychological, and social needs to ensure the safety and understanding of our patients, families, and staff.
3. Transports lab specimens to designated labs to ensure specimens are received in a timely manner.
4. Identifies co-workers needing assistance independently to offer applicable assistance and/or respond appropriately when requested to assist co-workers with necessary duties.
5. Monitors transport equipment to determine repair needs, complete minor repairs as applicable and initiate maintenance orders when necessary.
6. Ability to work in a team-based environment, both intradepartmental and with a multi-disciplinary collaborative approach.
7. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.
8. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.
9. Be prepared to assist during emergencies by helping with patient evacuations, setting up emergency equipment, and following established safety protocols.
10. Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation. Minimum Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: Patient transport, customer service or public relations experience. Demonstrated proficiency with verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects, as well as assist in moving patients.
